Excellent Food & Service Popped in last minute on a Wednesday evening with friends, we were made very welcome by the young girl who was working. The food was fantastic , tasty , hot , and well presented plus great value . Birthday disappointment We decided to have a takeaway for my birthday treat and wanted something "picky". We ordered the mixed meat starter for 2. What a disappointment! 2 prawns (over cooked), 2x 1 inch cubes of chicken, 2x 1 inch cubes of lamb and 2 minced chicken and lamb kebabs about 2 inches longand. Disappointing lunch We visited at lunchtime Saturday and chose from their lunch menu. This was starter and main from small selection + rice or naan bread for £15.95 each. It felt like they were definitely lacking quality and quantity for the lunch deal. Starters arrived with just the chicken tikka on the plate with a blob of sauce and nothing else, no salad or herbs. The main was worse though the chicken breast had been sliced into smaller pieces and was half the usual amount when you get the chunks of chicken. There was no coriander on curry which is kind of standard. Garlic naan tasted like plain and basmati rice portion was tiny and certainly not fluffy or hot. I was there tonight in a group of 9. Starters all were amazing, including mine. Fabulous presentation too. I was so looking forward to my ‘Special Chicken’. Mains arrived and everyone else’s was served in a variety of beautiful copper dishes and looked great. Fresh plates had been distributed to everyone ready for the main course. And then ours arrived… Two of us had ordered the Chef’s Special Chicken. Our meals arrived ready plated up, meaning we each had a spare plate to contend with, that wasn’t removed. I had ordered pilau rice (I clearly stated I would be sharing with the person next to me when I ordered) but wasn’t advised the Chef’s Special came with rice and it mentions nothing about this on the menu. The meal arrived looking like it had been slopped out at a canteen. Presentation was appalling.  The dish was mediocre at best and very sweet. Maybe the rice I ordered had been added to the mains plate despite us saying we would share when ordering? Who knows. Staff explained nothing. Most disappointing.

I went with the wife and it was Saturday night peak time so it was horribly busy so allowances were made when reviewing. Mixed starter was poor, but considering it was so busy we shouldn't have ordered that. The mains however were tremendous packed full of flavour and spiced correctly. Staff were busy but nice. Went on Saturday 20th June, first time eating here and really impressed. Onion badjis and spice tray were beautiful and lamb curry (Bhuteko Khasi) a cracker; one of the tastiest I've had. The lamb was falling apart it was so tender. Great atmosphere, busy restaurant but service was quick and attentive and we were well looked after. The Everest lager a banging find too. Went in here during a random wee visit to Musselburgh - Food was tasty, especially the momos which with the dipping sauces were superb.
